The Premier Inn St. Helier is located on Charing Cross and is just a short walk from the main bus station if you have arrived at the airport, and a short walk further from the ferry port. Right next to it is a Co-op supermarket which is handy for getting snacks and supplies, I visited several times during my two day stay. This is a  new Premier Inn which only opened earlier this summer.

Large comfortable bed

On entering the hotel there was just a couple of chairs to sit around on and you then had to take the lift up to the first floor for the reception. Check in went smoothly and then I was shown to my room on the second floor. The bedroom had a large comfortable double bed with plenty of room to get around both sides. There was an armchair, a desk with tea and coffee making facilities that were at the right height to use from a wheelchair and a flat screen tv.

Premier Inn bathroom

The bathroom was plenty big enough to move a wheelchair around in and to the left hand side there was a bath tub that had quite a number of handrails to assist you getting in and out. At the one end of the bathtub was a flat area that you could sit on if required. There was also a red emergency pull cord that correctly hung to the floor and was not wrapped around something as sometimes happens.

The toilet was positioned so that you could transfer to it on your left and there were again plenty of handrails including a drop down one on the transfer side. The hand wash basin was at a good height to get your knees under if in a wheelchair, and had a mirror at a useable height. There were also handrails here too. One little issue was that the soap dispenser was placed to your left in an awkward position to use it, it would have been easier if it was on the wall next to the mirror.

Overall this Premier Inn was very good and centrally located with many amenities close by (apart from the Co-op in the same building there was a chippy directly opposite the entrance). I think with Premier Inn if you require a shower rather than a bath tub you have to request this at time of booking; as I use neither preferring a good wash at the sink, I have never enquired. I would have no problems booking in here again for a future trip to Jersey.
